MY WOOD Reaffirms Support for Sports Development

MY WOOD Trading Company emerged as one of the key sponsors of the Kenya Cup, with its leadership reaffirming a long term commitment to sports development in the country.

MY WOOD Chief Executive Officer Ms. Kathy Andrews said the company’s decision to continue sponsoring the tournament is anchored in a strong belief in the role of sports in national development.

“My name is Kathy Andrews, CEO of MY WOOD Trading Company. We deal in timber and wood products. We have supported the Kenya Cup since the first season in 2025 and felt it was important to continue with the sponsorship. Supporting sports is supporting the nation,” she said.

Ms. Andrews explained that the partnership is driven by a desire to give back to the community rather than purely commercial considerations.

“We believe in giving back to the community. It starts with each one of us. That is how we encourage more sponsors to come on board so that talent can be nurtured and young people can develop their abilities,” she said.

She added that MY WOOD draws motivation from seeing athletes progress to international platforms.

“Our joy is seeing talent grow. When our children compete internationally and your brand has been part of that journey, it brings pride because you have played a role in enabling them. Without support from companies and government, young talent cannot go far,” Andrews noted.

Beyond volleyball, MY WOOD has made significant investments in grassroots sports across the country, including kabaddi and football.

“We are already active at the grassroots level. We support volleyball, kabaddi where we are the main sponsor in 2025, and several football clubs, including Mashinani teams and Alzizia FC in the Mount Kenya region,” she said.

She encouraged the public to follow the company’s sports initiatives on social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook under the name MyWood.

MY WOOD Trading Company specialises in timber and wood products, which Ms. Andrews described as the firm’s core business.

With backing from KVF leadership, government stakeholders, and committed sponsors such as MY WOOD, the second edition of the Kenya Cup is expected to set new standards for volleyball tournaments in the country.

As the competition phase approaches, stakeholders expressed optimism that the tournament will not only raise performance levels but also strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional hub for high quality volleyball competitions.
