Interpeace is the cornerstone of sustainable progress, Principal Secretary for Devolution Teresa Mbaika has stated, urging both local and international partners to focus on peacebuilding efforts in Mandera and other conflict-prone areas.
Speaking at the Interpeace event, PS Mbaika launched the "Entry Points for Peace Investment" initiative, a program designed to encourage investments that promote community-driven peace projects and long-term stability
In her address, PS Mbaika praised the work of Interpeace in strengthening peace and development in regions affected by conflict. She noted that peace goes beyond the absence of war, describing it as a fundamental enabler of economic growth, social harmony, and the overall welfare of the population
“Peace is essential for development to thrive. It is the foundation upon which we can build a better future for all Kenyans,” she said. “Through initiatives like 'Entry Points for Peace Investment,' we are laying the groundwork for a more peaceful and prosperous Mandera, where communities can grow and flourish.”
PS Mbaika further called on investors, development agencies, and civil society to collaborate in supporting long-term peace strategies. She stressed the importance of involving local communities in peacebuilding efforts to ensure sustainable and inclusive development.
The "Entry Points for Peace Investment" initiative is designed to attract investments that target the root causes of conflict and provide sustainable livelihoods for Mandera's residents.
Interpeace, alongside the county government and other key stakeholders, plans to extend its peacebuilding framework across the region, enhancing resilience and fostering partnerships among various players to secure lasting peace and development.
