In response to the devastating floods that have severely impacted communities in Nairobi’s Mukuru informal settlements, USAID, in partnership with Concern Worldwide Kenya and the Mukuru Slums Development Projects (MSDP), has officially launched the Flood Emergency Response Action (FERN) Project. This life-saving initiative aims to provide immediate and essential relief to the most vulnerable families affected by the disaster.

Anne Muthoni, Program Manager at MSDP, emphasized the significance of the project, stating;"This initiative underscores the U.S. Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting Kenya in times of crisis. It’s about more than just delivering aid; it’s about helping communities recover and build resilience for the future."

The FERN Project will focus on delivering critical resources, including Non-Food Item (NFI) distributions, cash assistance, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) support.

These interventions will ensure that the flood-stricken families in Mukuru can rebuild their lives, with clean water access and proper sanitation, as well as financial support to meet their immediate needs.
