With its theme, Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa's Resilient and Green Development, the summit aims to promote African-led climate solutions, encourage financial and political pledges, and strengthen communities, particularly youth and indigenous people.

Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate change, with rising temperatures, recurrent droughts, and flooding devastating agricultural sectors, increasing food insecurity, and causing displacement. Despite contributing less than 4% to global greenhouse gas emissions, Africa bears the brunt of climate change impacts, with its economy heavily dependent on agriculture, limited adaptation capacity, and poor infrastructure.
The ACS-2 provides a critical platform for African leaders to promote innovative global financial mechanisms, expedite green growth, mitigation, and adaptation, and showcase Africa-led climate solutions. The summit will highlight proven climate solutions, such as Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative, which has successfully planted 40 billion plants over the last seven years, demonstrating the government's commitment to practical climate action.

One of the primary subjects of the conference will be climate financing, with African nations requiring significant investments to implement their climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The summit will explore creative financing strategies, including leveraging global climate funds, increasing access to green bonds, and cultivating connections with financial institutions.

The ACS-2 is expected to unify the African position for COP30, flourishing new partnerships, showcasing innovation to tackle climate change-induced challenges, and commitment to climate financing. The summit will culminate in the Addis Ababa declaration on climate change, highlighting Africa's priorities and pledges for a climate-resilient and prosperous future.

As the clock ticks, the impact of climate change is putting immense pressure on the African continent. It is time for African leaders to work towards materializing promises, strategies, and action plans. The Second Africa Climate Summit is a critical step towards promoting sustainable development and climate resilience in Africa. By shifting the focus from words to concrete actions, the summit aims to:
Promote African-led climate solutions Highlighting proven climate solutions and showcasing Africa's leadership in global climate action.
