Speaking at the launch, Martha Karua, the People's Liberation Party (PLP) leader, emphasized the need for Kenyans to actively defend their rights, citing persistent injustices and systemic barriers to justice.

Empowering Citizenry for a Just Society

Karua highlighted that too many injustices persist due to lack of awareness, representation, and courage to uphold the law. She stressed the importance of institutional integrity, noting that true justice demands an empowered citizenry, courageous institutions, and an independent judiciary that serves without fear or favor. This call to action comes amid ongoing challenges documented in LSK's annual reports, where public unawareness and institutional hesitancy often hinder legal recourse.

Free Legal Consultations Nationwide

During the Legal Awareness Week, Kenyans can access free legal consultations from over qualified and well trained lawyers across the country. This initiative aims to promote legal literacy and awareness among citizens, bridging the gap between the law and the people. By providing free legal services, LSK is taking a crucial step towards ensuring that justice is accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic status.

A Step Towards a Just Society

The launch of the Legal Awareness Week 2025 is a significant step towards promoting access to justice and upholding the rule of law in Kenya. As Karua aptly put it, "I commend Faith Odhiambo,President  (LSK) with her entire council, and the LSK fraternity for advancing access to justice for all. With this initiative, LSK is reaffirming its commitment to empowering Kenyans and promoting a culture of justice and accountability.
