Kenya Marks World Children’s Day with Call for Climate Action, Child Protection, and Environmental Stewardship

Speaking during the brief at the Kenya Metrological Department  Hon .George Kimiti Director Natural Resource Environment Kajiado County has emphasize the need all cross cutting as Kenya today joined the rest of the world in marking World Children’s Day, with leaders, child advocates, and climate partners calling for stronger efforts to protect children from hunger, climate-related risks, and preventable deaths, while ensuring they feel included in national climate action conversations.
This year’s celebration placed a strong spotlight on the intersection between child welfare and climate change, noting that extreme weather, food insecurity, and environmental degradation increasingly threaten children’s wellbeing.
Speakers expressed concern that many children continue to go without food, while others face life-threatening conditions brought on by harsh climate patterns. They emphasized the urgent need to mentor, train, and support children to ensure they grow in safe, healthy environments.

Speaking through it partners Africa Community Of Planetary Partners For Health & Environment (ACCRCC)  Co- founder Mr Nathan Uchrtmann during the event—held as part of the national Climate Action and Children’s Climate Day and attended by various partners from both the government and climate-focused organizations—leaders reaffirmed the importance of giving children a voice in conversations shaping Kenya’s environmental future.

Bridging the gaps ACCRCC Executive Director Dr Pamella Kaithuru brought to  highlighted that awareness, education, and inclusion are key to ensuring children not only understand climate change but also feel empowered to contribute to solutions.
World Children’s Day serves as a reminder that children are not just beneficiaries of climate action—they are active stakeholders and future guardians of the planet.
