Nairobi, Kenya - Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon Musalia Mudavadi has welcomed the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) for an additional three years, citing its potential to boost trade between Kenya and the United States.
Following a meeting with United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau at his offices Railway HQ, Nairobi, Hon Mudavadi expressed optimism that the extension will increase Kenyan exports to the US market, creating new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs.

"The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) has been significant in increasing trade from Kenya and other countries in Africa, Hon Mudavadi said, noting that the duty-free and quota-free access to the US market has been a game-changer for Kenyan products.

The AGOA extension is expected to enhance Kenya's trade competitiveness, attract investment, and create jobs in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and textiles. Kenya's exports to the US have been growing steadily, with the US being one of the country's top trading partners.

The meeting between Hon Mudavadi and Landau also discussed regional issues, including the ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region.

The US Deputy Secretary of State's visit to Kenya is part of a broader tour aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation in areas such as trade, security, and development.
