The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially shifted its focus toward the 2027 General Election, announcing a series of high-stakes political activities, including a special leadership summit and the opening of a dedicated portal for 2027 hopefuls.

Following a National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting chaired by President William Ruto on Tuesday, the party revealed it will hold a Special National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, at State House, Nairobi.

Repeat Grassroots Polls Announced
Addressing the press on Wednesday, UDA Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan confirmed that while the party has successfully concluded three phases of grassroots elections, disputes in certain areas have necessitated repeat polls.

The National Elections Board (NEB) and the disputes committee identified specific polling centers that will return to the ballot. Phase III repeat elections are scheduled for March 7, 2026, while Phase II repeat elections will take place on March 28, 2026.
Registration for those seeking leadership positions at the Polling Center Congress level officially opened today on the party’s website.

Key Agenda: The ODM Partnership
Perhaps the most significant development from the briefing is the planned ratification of structured negotiations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The upcoming NGC meeting is expected to focus on:

Reviewing the BETA Scorecard: Assessing the progress of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

Formalizing ODM Talks: Ratifying the resolution mandating President Ruto to begin formal, structured negotiations with the Raila Odinga-led party.
Grassroots Report: Receiving a comprehensive final report on the recent elections from the National Elections Board.

"The party is consolidating its presence. We are moving from a moment of internal competition to a season of strategic external alliances," noted Sen. Hassan Omar.

Launch of the "UDA Aspirants Forum"
In a proactive move to manage the surge of interest for the 2027 elections, the party has established the UDA Aspirants Forum. A new portal has been launched today for all individuals intending to vie for elective seats in the next general election.

The inaugural meeting for these aspirants is scheduled for February 4, 2026, at State House, Nairobi. The party views this as a critical step in streamlining its candidate selection process and avoiding the fallout often associated with last-minute nominations.
