DCP Official's U-Turn: Apology and Defection Shake Kenyan Politics

By Bruno Aero Family Media Staff Writer
A dramatic turn of events in Kenyan politics as a former Democratic Congress of the People (DCP) member from Northern Kenya, Mr. Chihayo, has issued a public apology to senior Somali leaders and announced his defection to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Mr. Chihayo cited political marginalisation, lack of party support in the region, and concerns over national cohesion as reasons for his decision. He apologised for his past statements, acknowledging they were disrespectful and contrary to Somali cultural values.

The defection is a significant blow to DCP, with Mr. Chihayo stating the party has no realistic chance of winning any elective seat in Northern Kenya. He urged Northerners affiliated with DCB to reconsider their political alignment and join UDA, which enjoys grassroots support in the region.
The move has sparked intense debate, with many questioning DCB's relevance in Kenyan politics. As Mr. Chihayo embarks on a new political journey, Kenyans are watching closely to see how this development will impact the country's political landscape.
