The United Alliance, (UDA) has moved to end speculation surrounding its 2027 ticket by affirming that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will remain the party’s running mate. The declaration comes at a time when early political alignments and coalition talks are beginning to shape the national conversation ahead of the next General Election.

Addressing the press at the party headquarters on February 27, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said the party’s position is settled. While acknowledging that political discussions are normal in a democratic space, he stressed that UDA has not opened the deputy president’s position for negotiation. According to him, internal unity and consistency are key as the party prepares for the 2027 contest.

The statement follows growing interest from sections associated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where some leaders have hinted at the need for broader consultations on future power-sharing arrangements. A faction linked to Oburu Odinga has reportedly suggested that coalition structures could be reviewed as political strategies evolve.

However, leaders allied to UDA, particularly from the Mount Kenya region, have dismissed any suggestion of altering the current ticket. They argue that Kindiki has remained loyal to the administration and has carried out his responsibilities diligently. For them, stability within the ruling coalition is more important than entertaining shifting political interests.

Former UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina also weighed in, defending the party’s earlier endorsement of Kindiki. She maintained that his service record demonstrates competence and commitment, reinforcing the decision to retain him as the party’s deputy flag bearer.

As political momentum gradually builds toward 2027, the debate highlights the delicate balance within Kenya’s coalition politics. UDA’s firm stance signals its intention to maintain internal cohesion and avoid uncertainty. Whether this position holds amid future negotiations remains to be seen, but for now, the party insists its 2027 lineup remains intact.
