Francis Awino The National Convenor of Mtetezi Grassroot Economic Justice Movement and Members of His  Team  At Press In Nairobi

In a dramatic call to action, Mtetezi — the Grassroots Economic Justice Movement — has demanded immediate government intervention to safeguard Kenyans stranded in conflict zones. The movement insists that the state must move beyond advisories and hollow reassurances, and instead deliver decisive, tangible measures to protect lives, families, and the nation’s economic stability.

Mr, Francis Awino, National Convener of Mtetezi, outlined three urgent demands:

  • Evacuation: A fully coordinated, government-funded evacuation of all Kenyans trapped in conflict areas.

  • Communication: Establishment of verified communication channels and 24/7 emergency support so families can track and assist their loved ones.

  • Economic Safeguards: Implementation of urgent measures to cushion disruptions in oil imports, trade flows, and remittances.

Mr Francis Awino stressed that the government has 72 hours to respond. Failure to act will trigger a mass demonstration at the Ministries of Labour and Foreign Affairs, where citizens will demand accountability, protection, and immediate action.

“The government’s time for advisories and empty reassurances is over. Citizens’ lives, families’ peace of mind, and the stability of the economy cannot wait!” declared Mr, Francis Awino

Mtetezi’s ultimatum signals a growing frustration among ordinary Kenyans who feel abandoned in times of crisis. With families anxious about loved ones abroad and the economy vulnerable to external shocks, the movement insists that the state must honor its responsibilities or face public accountability through civic action.

A Call for National Solidarity

Mtetezi has urged all Kenyans — workers, students, families, and grassroots organizations — to prepare for collective civic action should the government ignore this ultimatum. The movement emphasizes that this is not a partisan issue, but a matter of human dignity and national responsibility.

“This is about the sanctity of life. It is about the right of every Kenyan to be protected by their government, wherever they are. We call on all citizens to stand together in solidarity,” Awino added.

Mounting Frustration Among Citizens

This ultimatum comes at a time when many Kenyans feel abandoned by their government in moments of crisis. Families are left in anguish, uncertain about the fate of loved ones abroad, while the economy faces mounting risks from disrupted oil imports and declining remittances.

Mtetezi argues that the government has a constitutional and moral duty to protect its citizens wherever they are. Failure to act, they warn, will expose negligence and erode public trust in state institutions.

“We will not stand by as Kenyans suffer in silence. If the government fails to act, the people will rise to demand justice and accountability Francis Awino emphasized as a call wake up
