UDA SG Sen Hassan Omar Hosts Kenya-Based Aspirants In a Grass Root Repeat Schedule Tomorrow
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is gearing up for its grassroots elections in 18 counties tomorrow, March 14, 2026. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced that party members will elect officials at the polling centre level, strengthening the party's internal democratic structures. ¹
The counties participating in the exercise are Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Kiambu.
Hon Snt Omar UDA SG, emphasized that the elections are part of the party's commitment to internal democracy and ensuring leaders are chosen by members at the lowest level. The UDA aims to empower grassroots members and establish accountable leadership structures.
The UDA's grassroots elections are seen as a crucial step in strengthening the party's internal structures and preparing for future electoral contests. By involving party members in the decision-making process, the UDA aims to enhance the legitimacy of its leaders and promote a sense of ownership among supporters.
According to Hon Omar, the elections are part of the party's ideology of bottom-up economic empowerment, which seeks to put the needs and interests of ordinary citizens at the forefront of its agenda.
The UDA has been conducting grassroots elections in phases across different counties, with the goal of establishing a robust leadership structure from the polling station level to the national level. Other political parties in Kenya are also undertaking similar exercises ahead of the 2027 polls.
