The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has issued nomination certificates to candidates set to contest in upcoming by-elections, underscoring its determination to consolidate political ground ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during the exercise, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar urged young voters—particularly Gen Z—to move beyond online activism and actively participate in shaping Kenya’s future through the ballot. He emphasized that youth engagement is critical to sustaining democracy and driving national progress.

Omar highlighted UDA’s embrace of technology, noting that the party is the first in Kenya to fully digitize its nomination primaries. He said the digital shift demonstrates that free, fair, and credible elections can be achieved through transparent systems, positioning UDA as a trailblazer in electoral innovation.

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago echoed confidence in UDA’s prospects for 2027, dismissing rival contenders as “familiar figures” offering little new to voters. He maintained that the party is strategically placed to outperform its competitors.

In a sharp rebuke, Omar accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of covertly undermining the current administration’s achievements, urging him to “stop living in denial” and desist from alleged political interference.

The UDA SG also took aim at The Standard newspaper, accusing it of biased reporting and character profiling. He challenged the media house to resolve its internal financial and staffing issues before criticizing others.

SG Omar urged and called on media institutions to uphold professionalism and ethical standards, warning against what he described as a growing trend of malicious reporting that erodes responsible journalism as pointed out direct to Standard PLC and encarange The IEBC with much confidence in the  conducting  fair election
