Mohit Targets Back-to-Back Success as PGK Equator Tour Heads to Thika

Safaricom-sponsored golfer Mohit Mediratta in action ahead of the second leg of the PGK Equator Tour at Thika Sports Club.

Nairobi, 21st May 2026  Sigona Golf Club’s Mohit Mediratta is aiming to extend his impressive form as the second leg of the PGK Equator Tour tees off from Thursday, 21st to Sunday, 24th May at the par-72 Thika Sports Club.

The Safaricom-backed golfer heads into the tournament full of confidence after emerging as the overall winner in the opening leg of the second edition of the tour held in April at Vet Lab Sports Club. Mohit delivered a standout performance throughout the competition, highlighted by a remarkable hole-in-one that proved pivotal to his victory.

Speaking during a training session ahead of the Thika leg, Mohit acknowledged the pressure that comes with leading the standings but expressed optimism about maintaining his strong run.

“I am keen to continue with the strong performance as we head to the second leg of the PGK Tour this week. The pressure is there, but I am looking forward to the challenge. As part of the corporate team supported by Safaricom, I am hopeful that we will retain the top corporate title,” said Mohit.

Mohit will face stiff competition from fellow Safaricom-backed players Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, and Matthew Wahome, all of whom are expected to challenge for top honours during the four-day event.

Now in its second edition, the PGK Equator Tour continues to play a significant role in preparing Kenyan professional golfers for international competition, including the road to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The series also serves as a pre-qualifier for players seeking slots at the Magical Kenya Open.

More than 50 professional golfers are expected to compete in the Thika leg, battling for individual honours as well as the coveted corporate category title.

The 2026 PGK Equator Tour began in April and will run through February 2027, culminating in a grand finale set for the same month.
