Samuel Njoroge Triumphs at Thika as PGK Equator Tour Heads to Limuru

Nairobi, 25th May 2026 – Safaricom-sponsored golfer Samuel Chege Njoroge delivered a composed and consistent performance to emerge victorious in the second leg of the second edition of the PGK Equator Tour held at Thika Sports Club.
Njoroge carded an impressive total of 278 strokes, finishing 10-under-par after four competitive rounds to top a strong field featuring some of Kenya’s leading professional golfers. His victory further cements his growing reputation on the local professional golf circuit and adds another major achievement to his expanding career.
Veteran golfer Dismas Indiza finished closely behind in second place with 279 strokes, while Michael Karanga secured third position after posting 283 strokes.

The win marks another milestone for Njoroge, who has steadily continued his rise since claiming his maiden PGK Equator Tour title during the first edition of the series at Diamonds Leisure Golf Club in Diani. His latest triumph at Thika reinforces his consistency and determination as the tour progresses i the country.

Speaking after his victory, Njoroge expressed delight at securing the title in a highly competitive field.
“I am very excited to win this tournament. The competition was tough, and every round was challenging, so I am happy with how I played throughout the week. Winning at Thika Sports Club is special to me, and this victory gives me confidence going into the next legs of the tour,” said Njoroge.
The tournament also witnessed strong performances from several leading professionals. Kennedy Abuto finished with 288 strokes, while Greg Snow and Edwin Mudanyi tied on 289. John Lejirma followed with 290 strokes, CJ Wangai posted 294, Mike Kisia finished with 295, and Mohit Mediratta rounded out the top ten with 296 strokes.

The PGK Equator Tour continues to grow as one of Kenya’s premier professional golf series, providing local players with a platform to sharpen their competitiveness ahead of major international assignments, including the Magical Kenya Open and qualification pathways towards the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

This year’s edition will be played across 11 courses around the country, with players battling for crucial ranking points and honours throughout the season.
Following the conclusion of the Thika leg, attention now shifts to Limuru Country Club, which will host the third leg of the tour as competition intensifies among Kenya’s top golfers.
