Absa Kenya Unveils Sustainability Strategy to Drive Green Finance and Inclusive Growth

Absa Bank Kenya has outlined a comprehensive sustainability strategy aimed at accelerating growth in sustainable finance, supporting Kenya’s transition to a greener and more inclusive economy.
The strategy is anchored on four key pillars, including expanding sustainable finance by ensuring that at least 30 per cent of gross loan disbursements support financial inclusion, green finance, and nature-based finance initiatives.
The second pillar focuses on achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through an ambitious decarbonisation agenda, while the third seeks to strengthen sustainability risk management and governance frameworks across the Bank.
The fourth pillar is designed to integrate sustainability into Absa’s organisational culture while enhancing customer experience and creating long-term value for clients and communities.

“As Kenya accelerates its transition towards a greener and more inclusive economy, Absa will continue partnering with government, businesses, development partners and communities to finance solutions that create lasting value and contribute meaningfully to the country's long-term development priorities,” said Mr. Omari.

Absa said the sustainability agenda reflects its commitment to supporting national development priorities while promoting responsible banking practices that address climate change, financial inclusion, and environmental conservation.
