UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan has criticized the Standard Media Group over what he described as persistent negative reporting against the Kenya Kwanza administration, calling on the media house to uphold responsible, factual, and professional journalism.

Speaking during a press conference, Omar singled out reports involving Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, alleging that some of the coverage lacked factual backing and unfairly portrayed senior government officials.
He said the ruling party would take what he termed appropriate action regarding reporting it considers misleading, adding that UDA is prepared to increasingly engage alternative media platforms if mainstream outlets continue publishing stories the party believes are inaccurate or unfair.

According to Omar, the media has a responsibility to provide balanced, factual, and evidence-based reporting that informs the public while avoiding the spread of misinformation. He argued that consistently negative coverage undermines public confidence and does not contribute positively to the country's development.
His remarks are expected to reignite debate over the relationship between the government and the media, as press freedom advocates continue to maintain that journalists have a duty to report independently while adhering to the principles of accuracy, fairness, and verification.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions about media accountability, freedom of the press, and the role of journalism in holding public institutions accountable while maintaining professional standar
