United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Communications Director Nathaniel Mong’are has defended President William Ruto’s development agenda, arguing that the government’s infrastructure projects and grassroots network will play a central role in shaping the party’s strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking while addressing supporters, Mong’are praised the Kenya Kwanza administration’s focus on infrastructure development, job creation, and expanding economic opportunities for young people. He said the government’s approach represented a shift from previous administrations and called on Kenyans to recognize what he described as the scale of ongoing development.
“The question that many Kenyans are asking is: What was Uhuru Kenyatta doing with our money?” Mong’are posed, while contrasting the current administration’s priorities with those of the previous government.
He claimed that more than 6,000 kilometres of roads are currently under construction across the country, with plans underway to develop an additional 28,000 kilometres through the Kenya National Infrastructure Fund.
This you must give to President William Ruto for making the right decisions for the country,” Mong’are said, crediting the President’s leadership for what he termed a major infrastructure transformation.
The UDA official also linked the government’s development projects to employment creation, particularly among young people. According to Mong’are, more than 600,000 youths have secured jobs at construction sites across the country, supporting the administration’s promise of putting “pesa mfukoni” by increasing economic opportunities.
“More than 600,000 young people are working on these sites. If we need to move our country forward and provide opportunities, then we cannot be making the same decisions that were undertaken before,” he said.
Mong’are highlighted several flagship projects as examples of the government’s development agenda, including the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway, the Sh3.58 billion Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover, the 60,000-seat Talanta Stadium, and the modernization and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
He said UDA’s grassroots network would remain a key pillar as the party prepares for the 2027 elections, emphasizing the importance of maintaining close engagement with communities across the country.
The remarks come as the Kenya Kwanza administration continues to defend its economic record amid criticism from opposition leaders over the rising cost of living, public expenditure, and the pace of development.
As political competition ahead of 2027 intensifies, UDA has maintained that its focus on infrastructure, employment, and grassroots mobilisation will help it secure continued support from voters.
